Anet dev appreciation | Skill creation and balance
Playing around with skill concepting, I created about 90-95 new skill concepts. That's mostly irrelevant. What I discovered during this experimental phase is that creating enough skills is downright hard. I only made 90+, and it was getting insanely difficult to make skills that were A) Fitting for the profession and attribute, B) Balanced to the point of being useful, without being broken, and C) Unique. [Not to say I actually succeeded, either]
Making ~450 skills for 6 professions, and another 300 for the release of factions for both new and core professions, it's simply amazing.
There're a lot of skills out there that're not as useful in practice as in theory, and skills that downright don't make much sense, but regardless it's still quite a feat.
What I mean to say is that whatever tweaks their skills might require, I've enjoyed the game since during the BWE's, and Assassin+Ritualist skills as well, that the effort has been appreciated. In the end, they've done a pretty darn good job, and I trust Chapter 3 to be just as interesting as the Chapter 2 in terms of skills, with what we've gotten a peek at, and in short; Thank you.
They may make mistakes and they definitely take a lot of flak, particularly because no matter what you do, you're going to upset someone out there. So I hope this is something they can enjoy, as I haven't seen any topics like this since... Well, a while. Just my $.02.

Damn straight. I think Anet did a really great job, and I just posted in another post (for those of you who read every post, you will see it) saying how much I love the game. I couldn't really ask any more of Anet to be honest.

I'm sure its much easier with a team of people instead of just one person.

Myself, and a thousand other people probably have no idea what you mean by that. Good post to the OP, Anet has it's shit together, know doubt!

True, you have more ideas out there on the table. But for the same reason why some of my friends run around 8 man areas with only 5-6, sometimes it's actually easier with less people. Not just the rewards, but more people means more arguments, and different views on the way things should be.
But yeah, I'm not THAT silly, o_O I do agree that more people is without a doubt easier than a single person everything. And even so, it's still a lot of work that they put into it.

I agree. The diversity of skills is amazing.
For example, there are at least five skills with different attributes that can strip enchantments. And each one has a different side effect, such as gaining health, gaining energy, doing damage, allowing use of that enchantment and sacrificing health to do so. And each one has a valid use in certain circumstances.
Very well done.
